Bonjour! It's not easy to pause the Nourish collective that gathers out of tio'tia:ke (unceded kanien'keha:ka territory) at McGill. Diversity runs this vibrant city of murals, music, and constant construction. And the McGill chapter embraces that diversity.
We have a variety of projects and partnerships; that attracts a diverse group of people with distinct, yet related passions.
Three Things They're Up To:
Community Fridge Food security is an issue, even on college campuses, and the McGill chapter, collaborating with their University & other like-minded organizations in Montreal, is aiming to install a free fridge on campus. It's like a food pantry or a little free library, but for food items that need to be kept cold (like fresh produce).
Alternative-Economy Market
After a multi-hour conversation about capitalism, the alternatives, and ethical economies, the McGill chapter launched a regular alternative economy market, offering students and community members an opportunity to support local artists and producers, building resilience and community.
Organizing the Climate March
Several members of the McGill chapter were leaders in organizing the March 15th #FridayforFuture Climate March, which saw tens of thousands of young people take to the streets of Montreal as part of a movement to ring the alarm bell on global warming.
