A few months ago, we announced that JD Van Alstyne, our current ED, would be stepping down after several years of dedicated service to Nourish International and its student membership. After a thorough search and vetting process, it is with great excitement that the Board of Directors announces Tanesha Cameron-Cole will be joining Nourish as our next Executive Director! ![]() Tanesha obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Management, both from Syracuse University. Throughout her career, she has focused on program development and delivery, from childhood education to college student mentorship. Notably, she served as the Director of School Based Programs for Coordinated Care Services of Syracuse, where she oversaw a staff of 90 executing two major programs with a combined budget of $6M. Most recently, Tanesha served as the Executive Director of the Rocky Mount Region of Communities in Schools of North Carolina, serving over 1200 students across 24 sites. Tanesha lives outside Raleigh, NC with her husband and three children. She is energetic, strategic, grounded, and generous. Tanesha is passionate about mentorship and advocacy, spending time outside of professional roles serving on the boards of two organizations focused on supporting underrepresented young men and women. The experience of getting to know Tanesha through the interview process was one of immediate connection and we are confident our students, alumni, volunteers, and other stakeholders will have the same experience. Tanesha herself will be reaching out to our community in the coming weeks as she begins her role as Nourish’s Executive Director. While we are sad to see JD move on to the next stage in his career, we also wish to celebrate all that he has accomplished within and for Nourish in four years of service. He started out as a Nourish College Chapter founder himself, while a Junior at the University of Oregon. Then, upon graduating, JD joined our national office as a Program Associate. He quickly advanced to Program Coordinator, then to Executive Director. Most notably, JD shepherded the organization through a deeply impactful reimagining process two years ago. JD has continued to be a strong force for the Nourish movement during this transitional phase, as he worked closely with our Search Committee to design and execute a very thorough candidate vetting and selection process. After considering nearly 100 applicants and multiple interview rounds, the Nourish Board selected Tanesha as the strongest of a field of very impressive candidates. We are fortunate to have JD’s services over the next eight weeks as he trains and transitions Tanesha into her new role at Nourish. We are so very excited to welcome Tanesha to the Nourish family and for all of the exciting growth she will bring to our movement.
